I love a warm eye. Would you believe I had to hide the Tarte Toasted palette so I didn’t grab for it so often? I admit, I’m quite neglectful of some of my other palettes. This was a first I’d used it in a long while, much to my other eye shadow palettes delight.

I created the ‘halo effect’ with a bit of Tarte Shape Tape on the centre of my lid and applied. It took a bit to pack on but I like the effect.

I kind of wished I bronzed a bit more around my temples and forehead. Sometimes, makeup can look so different until you photograph it.

Look 2 – “The Berry Nice”

  • MAC, Wedge and Cork shadows
  • Tarte, Tartelette Toasted Palette, candle, fireside
  • Essence, Kajal Eye Pencil, white
  • xoBeauty The Gold Digger lashes, from ‘The Dramatics’ set
  • xoBeauty Lucent, highlight
  • xoBeauty, Wabi Sabi matte lipstick

20190504022417_IMG_5290

I won this lipstick (among so many other fabulous goodies) in a giveaway I mentioned earlier.

The universe brought to me such a fun berry shade, something so perfect for what I wanted these upcoming months.

Sadly, I don’t own a lip liner to match this, I used Kylie Cosmetics lip kit liner in Wicked but it was a little too purple but I kind of liked the effect. I would suggest using a balm underneath and then lining your lips as this is a bit patchy. Still beautiful though!

Can I quickly mention, The Gold Digger lashes by xoBeauty are one of my favs!! I love the lashes the taper from short in the inner corner to longer on the outer corner. Strip lashes can tend to look very heavy on my eyes if I’m not careful with my choice in lashes.

Look 3 – “The Stormy”

20190503024752_IMG_5265
It’s me and my garden leaf, again!

The last two looks being this one above and below have very minimal eye makeup but it’s all about playing up the lips.

This shade by Flower Beauty looks a lot more darker in person than the picture shows. Very opaque and even colour.

I love how lipsticks can turn around a look in an instant and automatically amp up your look.

Look 4 – “The Moody”

20190411011926_IMG_5154

The first of my greige toned lipsticks. Some may say muddy, some gothic, I personally love how it makes my eyes look more blue. Again, more so in person than showing up in this picture (they look a little green?)

Did you know grey is made up of the primary colours yellow, red and blue? I suppose that’s why I find it brings out the blueness but I digress, this isn’t a basic colour theory blog post.

Guys this was pretty long but I hope you stayed with me until the end and enjoyed seeing some of my makeup creations 😀

I will be posting another important blog post later today (2 blogs in one day??) be sure to read it when you get the chance.

Now after the day is through, what’s next? Well my evening skincare routine of course!

PM Skincare Routine

  1. Simple Skincare, Micellar Water (almost out and soon to be replacing with (Bioderma Sensibio H2O Sensitive, pink cap). I then continue the rest in the shower
  2. Simple Skincare Water Boost, Micellar Gel Cleanser, 30 seconds of finger tip massaging, then rinse face
  3. CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion PM to damp face, straight out of the shower
  4. CeraVe in the tub Moisturising Lotion on body
  5. Spot treat blemishes with Tea Tree Oil

I can’t help but thinking of that recent meme that I can’t find or was it a tweet about influencers talking about their skincare routines. In no way do I think I am an influencer but it gave me a giggle. I hope you enjoyed this blog post.

Centre Stage: Niacinamide

Today’s ingredient we are exploring in, ‘Centre Stage’ is Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3. Taken by mouth, vitamin B3 it is said to alleviate acne vulgaris, help stop memory loss in Alzheimer’s disease, lessen the disconcerting symptoms of schizophrenia and even help ADHD.

Currently, there is not enough substantial evidence to determine its full effectiveness in the treatment of the above ailments. But there is another area it is more commonly used for which we will discuss today.

Skincare Benefits

Niacinamide is more commonly known for its use in skincare products. Proven effective in the treatment of eczema, it is also beneficial in maintaining overall skin tone, reduction of pore size, and reduction of wrinkles and fine lines.

The reasons why I choose to incorporate niacinamide in my skincare routine are; reducing my redness (rosacea), soothing my blemishes and dermatitis (seb derm) and creating an overall even skin tone.

Here are a few select products containing Niacinamide (Vitamin B3):

Top Recommendations

Centre Stage: Essential Oil – Tea Tree Oil

Native to New South Wales and Queensland in Australia, the Melaleuca Alternifolia known as tea tree oil, is an essential oil used by Aborigines for years. It has a wide variety of benefits and it’s my most favourite pimple fighting treatment.

It’s most recommended to dilute tea tree oil with water. Always follow instructions on the back of your product to find the perfect ratio.

Acne & Blemishes

I’ve used this for years to spot treat pimples and it works wonders in reducing inflammation.

I usually apply it directly from the bottle using an ear bud/cotton tip directly on the blemish. Overnight, it dramatically reduces the bump size and redness. *Caution, this can cause irritation*

Antibacterial

You can use tea tree oil as a disinfectant when cleaning. You could soak items in a bucket for a powerful punch, use in a spray bottle to clean areas of your home or by adding a few drops into your laundry cycle you can banish germs from your clothes and towels.

Add a few drops to your bucket, dilute one part water and tea tree oil into a spray bottle or into the softener dispenser in your washing machine to reap the benefits.

Wound Healing

Applied to cuts, scrapes, scratches or bug bites for its antiseptic qualities, it can alleviate itching and heal wounds faster by activating white blood cells into an immune response thus reducing inflammation at the site.

tea-tree.png

Clarify Hair and Dandruff Treatment

I’ve bought many a shampoo infused with tea tree oil. Mostly for the cleansing as sometimes my hair gets limp from the same shampoo. This helps strip all the gunk off to reveal shiny, healthy hair. I do think it helps with an itchy scalp as I get bouts of seborrheic dermatitis on the nape of my neck.

Shampoo once or twice to revitalise the hair strands. Continue once or twice a week for maintenance.

Important: Allergy Patch Test

I use tea tree oil straight from the bottle but it’s so important to patch test as tea tree oil can be potentially irritating for you. Dilute with water and always follow instructions.

Tea Tree oil is widely available in a variety of shops and online for reasonable prices which makes it truly one of natures wonders.

Love your health.

Test – DAISO Puff Sponge Detergent

Public service announcement! Get to your nearest DAISO because well, you’ll see when you get there…

I have a post on a little DAISO haul from last year here if you want to see what beauty items I picked up.

I went there twice and you’ll notice I have two brush cleaners. Today I test the Puff Sponge Detergent.

DAISO Says

Gets rid of foundation stains right away!

20190122023511_img_4551
80ml/2.7fl.oz AUD $2.80, squirt tube with flip top lid, fragrance-free and no artificial colours

20190122023527_img_4552

Ingredients

Surfactant 34%, polyoxyethylene alkyl ether, fatty acid alkanol amide, stabilizer, water softening agent. Mildly alkaline.

Notes

I’m going to use this on brushes because at the moment, I am not using a Beauty Blender or beauty sponge for makeup application.

Note: All brushes had 2 applications worth of products as indicated below (powder or cream).

  1. Foundation brush – Used for powder foundation (Bare Minerals)
  2. Eye shadow blending brush – Used for blending a matte eye shadow (Tarte Toasted palette)
  3. Flat shader brush – Used for cream eye shadow base (MAC Paint Pot)
20181213010333_img_4361
From top, foundation brush, eye shadow blender and shader

20181213010351_img_4362

Cleaning Technique

  • Pre-rinse brushes in lukewarm water
  • Drip 4 drops of detergent into my hand
  • Swirl brush bristles in a circular motion
  • Rinse well under lukewarm water until water runs clear
  • Leave to air dry

Performance Results

The detergent created enough soap suds to lift the pigment from each of the brushes used for powders and cream products. It’s consistency is in-between regular dish washing detergent and a gel/clear shampoo.

20181213011032_img_4364
No residual product left on brushes

20181213011026_img_4363

  1. Foundation brush – Looked and felt clean
  2. Eye shadow blender – Pigment removed, bristles came back to original colour
  3. Eye shadow shader – No residue of cream product left in bristles (I actually had a clump of old product sitting way down in the middle section of the brush and it removed the old stain).

I did not need to go in again to wash these with more detergent.

My Thoughts

I love that this is free from fragrance as my sensitive skin would probably disagree with harsh cleaning chemicals coming into contact with it. I’m happy to have found this product as recommended by so many beauty worshipers.

I wish this came in a jumbo size and maybe a pump though! It’s a bargain price but I’ll see how long this lasts me.

I will review the other brush cleaner at a later date so be sure to follow my blog an other social media for updates.

Let me know your thoughts on this product, if you’ve tried it or are thinking of purchasing it 🙂

Love your health.

Review – Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

Rejoice Aussie babes! tarte’s famous Shape Tape concealer has arrived at Sephora and it’s only taken the usual 1 million light years to get here.

Not only are their products fabulous, but their choice of purple (my fav colour) for pretty much all their products makes me like them even more. Let’s discuss.

tarte Says

Get full coverage with a flawless matte finish with this concealer that covers all imperfections and doubles as a contour/highlighter. Its creamy, easy-to-blend formula won’t flake or crease. Mango seed and shea butters nourish and help illuminate your skin for a lifted effect.

My shade, 20B Light, AUD $37.00 10ml, available in 30 shades

Ingredients

Check here as there are different groups for different shades.

Scent

I really dislike fragrance in any face products, but it’s pretty much impossible to find makeup without a scent or fragrance even listed on ingredients. However, this smells amazing!! I would spray this on my body if it came in a perfume bottle. tarte, Eau De Parfum.

Size comparison, NARS Radiant Creamy concealer

On average you get about 6ml of concealer give or take a bit. This is a whopping 10ml which is great if you’re intent on highlighting/contouring your entire face often.

My Blue Vein – The Full Coverage Test

20190203233926_IMG_4684So I have this very large, blue vein under my right eye. I don’t care about it being there because it’s always been there. I have couperose skin and a lot of obvious blue veins all over my body. But it’s great to test the coverage!

Note, I didn’t use any correcting colours just the Shape Tape alone underneath my foundation.

Coverage Test

20190201235352_IMG_4663

My Thoughts

I’ve worn this at least 7 times since its purchase. I’ve tried a lot of concealers and this one is definitely everything everyone else is talking about. I agree that it is;

  • Full coverage
  • Brightens the under eye area
  • Smooths the under eye area
  • Blends well, you don’t need a lot of product
  • Last well with no creasing

My blue vein is concealed and yes, you can slightly see it. I would probably need a concealer with more peachy tones to counteract it completely but I like this shade enough. My purpose for concealing with this shade is to bring some lightness to the under eyes and inner corners. I’m not a huge fan of white triangles of zinc under my eyes.

20190201235422_IMG_4665
Just enough lift to brighten

I will only wear this with a full face of makeup or to conceal my eyes on any general day. This is not your everyday/natural makeup concealer, it means high coverage business!

So will you be getting your very own jumbo concealer the Shape Tape concealer from tarte? Let me know if you’ve tried it and what your thoughts are down below 🙂

Love your health.

Review – Urban Decay – All Nighter Setting Spray

You’ve spent hours perfecting your look and you’ll want to make it last right?

Urban Decay. Something about this brand screams for a time when I first delved into the higher end makeup scene. My task? Purchase the Naked palette because it was the palette everyone owned. I used Beauty Bay back in those days, we didn’t have the convenience of Mecca stores.

I have fond memories of this brand. I am still not okay with the discontinuation of the OG Naked palette. But I digress. Let’s move on to another one of their classic favs.

20190122012234_img_4542

Urban Decay Says

Lock down complexion, eyes and lips with this cult-favourite, bestselling setting spray for an invincible makeup look that seriously slays all day and well into the night.

Also it’s Free from oil and parabens and vegan. Nice!

20190122012323_img_4543

Scent

It has somewhat of a scent but it dissipates as soon as you spray it.

Why it’s great?

  • This mist was created with Skindinavia a leading brand in setting sprays
  • Allows for up to 16 hours wear but lets face it, 8 hours is good enough for most

Wear Test

The following three pictures are taken straight after spraying All Nighter.
