Review – Urban Decay – All Nighter Setting Spray

You’ve spent hours perfecting your look and you’ll want to make it last right?

Urban Decay. Something about this brand screams for a time when I first delved into the higher end makeup scene. My task? Purchase the Naked palette because it was the palette everyone owned. I used Beauty Bay back in those days, we didn’t have the convenience of Mecca stores.

I have fond memories of this brand. I am still not okay with the discontinuation of the OG Naked palette. But I digress. Let’s move on to another one of their classic favs.

Urban Decay Says

Lock down complexion, eyes and lips with this cult-favourite, bestselling setting spray for an invincible makeup look that seriously slays all day and well into the night.

Available in 30ml AUD $23.00/118ml $49.00

Aqua / Water, Alcohol Denat., PVP, Dimethicone PEG-7 Phosphate, PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Dipropylene Glycol, Isononyl Isononanoate, Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Glycereth-5 Lactate, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenylpropanol, Parfum / Fragrance, Propanediol, Methyl Diisopropyl Propionamide, Poloxamer 407, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Maltodextrin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Citronellol, Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol, Tocopherol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, BHT.

Also it’s Free from oil and parabens and vegan. Nice!

It has somewhat of a scent but it dissipates as soon as you spray it.

Why it’s great?

  • This mist was created with Skindinavia a leading brand in setting sprays
  • Allows for up to 16 hours wear but lets face it, 8 hours is good enough for most

Wear Test

The following three pictures are taken straight after spraying All Nighter.

5 hours in

My sunglasses have removed my makeup off my nose and created a slight indentation below my under eyes, no shine
No cake-iness or major difference
Bronzer and blush are holding up nicely

Final Check In 8 1/2 hours In

So you can tell I have touched my chin and nose at some point
This still looks great! Bronzer and blush still visible
I feel like this side looks like it’s starting to break up
Again, I was leaning on my chin
Forehead has no shine

My Thoughts

Overall, I am very impressed! It was stinking hot and humid, I touched my face which doesn’t help but all other parts of my face held up well and none of my oils broke through. I’m happy!

I hope you enjoyed my review and wear test of this product. Let me know how you think it looks after 8 hours and if UDΒ All Nighter works well for you.

Casual Friday’s – Anime Me + Makeup Look

For the longest time I’ve dreamt of having pink hair, something that sparks joy for me if you will.

I mean you have to admit, it’s fun to have mermaid coloured hair!

I purchased this wig mid 2018 and began a mission to create the perfect look.

Dying & straightening a synthetic, heat resistant wig

I wasn’t entirely happy with the shade of pink it was dyed or the curls set by the manufacturers but I decided to scour YouTube in an effort to find out if and how I could dye it and straighten it.

Check out this awesome lady, Alexa Poletti and her playlist on wigs including all your essentials.

Queen of everything front lace wigs and former? employee and model of Rockstar Wigs USA.

I followed her, “How to dye a synthetic wig” and “How to straighten your wig” video tutorials.

Lots of synthetic hair, nice cut/shape with layers and definitely not cheap looking
I forget how many inches this is but it’s long

I’m not 100% finished with the wig and the dying process takes patience but it’s a fun on the side hobby I go back to every now and then. It feels like I’m playing hairdresser πŸ˜€

I used both Sharpie and Artline texter’s to colour my wig in purple’s and pinks. I also have to fix up the lace hair line with a bit of concealer (which I forgot to do before taking these pictures *oops*) because they went a little pink during the dying process.

Pink Eye Shadow Look

Pink everywhere!

I really want to make it a goal to purchase bright coloured eye shadow palettes and then play with colours more in 2019.

I don’t have any brightly coloured palettes at the moment so I improvised a little.

Thank you Tarte’s Color Wheel of Amazonian Clay Blushes!
  • Using the blush colours Deco and Surreal buffed into the crease
Just look at those pans
  • I then used Urban Decay Naked palette’s shade Sin for the middle for a halo effect
  • I also used a bit of MUFE Palette 9 Artist Shadow purple shade in M-842 to deepen the outer V
Second from the top, M-842
  • A thin line of liquid liner and some mascara and falsies finished the look

20190127013453_img_4592That’s it my friends! I hope you enjoyed a few extra snaps of me in my wig and a look into how I created this eye look.

Love your health.

Welcome back! Today I wrap up my MAC Series Favs with the finale product *drum roll* their Prep + Prime Fix + Spray.

Gives an instant boost of hydration while delivering a soft sheen to refresh and finish makeup. A delicious twist in a permanent romantic rose scent, calming lavender scent, or creamy coconut scent

Available in shades/scents Original, Coconut, Lavender and Rose, AUD $25.00 30mL/$36.00 100mL.

My Thoughts

Although it’s uses span from prepping the face to setting makeup, I actually only use this to get rid of the excess powder on my face i.e “Cake Face” and to wet my eye shadows if they need some help.

With a very light spray of my face, this hydrating formula is helpful when I have dry skin days and my makeup clings to some areas of my face.

I then go in with a setting spray.

I actually don’t like Fix + as a setting spray because when I have worn it as one (with a lot of sprays!) I became very oily. It just doesn’t work for my skin.

This is a little too much spray for myself

A light spritz gives my face a nice refresh!

Available online and in store at MAC, selected Mecca Maxima stores and selected MYER and David Jones counters.

So let me know if you have this cult classic in your collection down below. I’d love to know how it works for you πŸ™‚

Review – BiorΓ© UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen

As the heatwaves continue to melt most of Australia, let’s take a look at a facial sunscreen I’ve been using regularly.

Welcome to my first blog post of 2019! I hope you’ve enjoyed my Instagram Summer Filler content during the holidays. I have to say, I think I do a lot better creating those spontaneous posts than I do scheduled ones!

What better way to begin than with this. I’ve become obsessed with skincare in the recent year and now more so finding facial sunscreen’s that provide excellent protection that are aesthetically pleasing.

Two sunscreen’s I’ve been loving over Summer were actually ones I won in a giveaway last year. I used and reviewed the sample La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Dry Touch SPF50+ Sunscreen For Oily SkinΒ in my ‘Mini Instagram Review’ on IG stories.

I’m so grateful to have received them because I love them both equally. Let’s discuss the full size sunscreen next.

Water, Ethanol, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Methacrylic Acid Lauryl/Methacrylic Acid Crosspolymer, Alkyl Benzoate (C12-15), Bis Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Hexyl Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Benzoate, Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Triazone, Dimethyl Silylate Silica, Dpg, Xylitol, Dextrin Palmitate, Acrylates/Alkyl (C10-30) Crosspolymer, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Polysilicone-9, Glyceryl Stearate, Amp, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Agar, Isoceteth-20, Alkyl (C30-45) Methicone, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Olefin (C30-45), Sodium Hydroxide, Bg, Pg, Sodium Hyaluronate, Royal Jelly Extract, Orange Fruit Extract, Grapefruit Extract, Lemon Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Edta-2, Bht

This has a strong, alcohol scent. But it’s something that goes away once absorbed. Don’t be alarmed. Alcohol actually helps sunscreen filters perform well.

Why is it great?

  • Lightweight – Feels like nothing on the skin
  • No white cast – Casper be gone
  • Easy to apply – This is literally like smoothing water over your skin
  • Doesn’t make me look oily or greasy with hours wear – This is huge
  • Sweat resistant – Perfect to wear to the beach
  • Contains Hyaluronic acid – Great moisturising/hydrating formulation
  • Works well under makeup – Didn’t get any pilling

There’s a reason why this is a bestseller in Japan!

Disappears instantly leaving no white cast

  • Shake your bottle well, it’s important as the chemical filters need a chance to ‘come alive’ after settling in the bottle. Of course this also means even distribution of UV filters
  • Apply about a teaspoon to your face and neck, don’t forget your ears
  • It feels much like a gel moisturiser on your face, comfortable and cool
  • It dries down to a dewy finish, you’ll enjoy the moisturising feel of it
  • The secret to wrinkle free, youthful skin is never going to be in that expensive serum. Spending your money on a sunscreen that works as well as this one is my suggestion

So how do I get one?

The best way of getting your hands on this product is online, unless of course you have the pleasure to travel to a country that stocks it. Online is your best bet for the most part.

I will repurchase from this site in future.

Watch out! Browsing this site is dangerous, says the girl with multiple items sitting in the wish list section. Come on restock *crosses fingers*

Happy New Year!

I truly hope that 2019 brings you all that you dream of.

MAC Series – Fav #5, Retro Matte Lipstick ‘Ruby Woo’ – My Festive Must Have

Tis the season to be jolly and wear a lot of red!

It’s Christmas Eve and before that special day, I need to share with you one of my favourite lipsticks. Very appropriate!

MAC Says:

A long-wearing Lipstick formula with intense colour payoff and a completely matte finish.

Long-wearing, eight hours

‘Ruby Woo’ AUD$36.00, 3 g / 0.1 US oz

What’s not to love about this classic red lip?

This iconic, blue-red, very matte lipstick will suit all skin tones for a properly perfect pout.

Application Tips

  • I would strongly suggest applying MAC’s Prep + Prime Lip or at the very least a lip balm (which is what I use). This will allow for smoother application
  • Use a red lip liner to fill in your lips. This creates a base. I use MAC’s ‘Cherry’ lip liner (as seen in featured pic above) it seems in the years after I bought ‘Cherry’ they have now got an actualΒ ‘Ruby Woo’ lip liner. (*coughs* why do I still want to buy this even though Cherry has literally been sharpened once since purchase and I don’t need it??)
  • Apply lipstick straight from the bullet
  • You can use a brush to apply more layers
  • Re-draw your lips to perfect any of the outer lines
Applying straight from the bullet gets maximum colour application, you can fix any mistakes later

Things to keep in mind

Red lips are capable of taking your makeup to the next level or making your face look more awake in the blink of an eye.

  • It also has a way of drawing your eyes to any other red things on your face, i.e that pimple, that vein, capillary or that dry patch of skin. Fair people beware! Tanned skin lovelies, you’re lucky.
  • Be sure to cover up your face as to not draw attention to that red area because human nature will cause people’s eyes to match the red on your lips to the red on your cheek etc.

My Thoughts

I have worn this to big occasions and small dinners and sometimes just during the day, the staying power is always there and it hardly transfers onto any cutlery or glassware. It is very matte, but so gorgeous, a holy grail in my opinion.

So have I got you convinced why you might want to wear this for Christmas? πŸ˜€

Wishing you all a safe and happy Christmas!

MAC Series – Fav #4, Red Brick Eye Shadow + Age Old Eye Shadow Trick!

Orange. I bet you’d never think to purchase this shade of eye shadow. Maybe you’re certain it wouldn’t suit you. Maybe you think it’d never work on your skin tone. Well let me tell you a little something about this colour.

Perhaps you’re thinking, “She’s lost it if she thinks I’m going to be applyingΒ thatΒ all over my lids!”

side eye

Wait! Don’t leave just yet. Now I’m not saying there aren’t some particularly photogenic individuals out there who couldn’t rock an entirely orange look. I’m talking using this shade in the slightest way possible to transform a dull look to a ka-pow look!

But first, a message from MAC;

A highly pigmented powder that applies evenly and blends well. Can be used wet or dry. Available in a wide variety of textures and finishes. Non-acnegenic.

‘Red Brick’ AUD$33, 1.5 g / 0.05 US oz

So why out of 105 shades available at MAC should you consider this one find a home in your collection or kit?

Firstly, I have a love affair with MAC shadows. Dare say it, more than Tarte’s shadows *gasp*

But other than the formula, lasting power and opacity, it’s the colour that works so brilliantly in almost every eye look.

By applying a smidge of this just above the crease between the brow bone, it gives a warmth particularly if you’ve used a lot of cool tones.

Something about this makes the colours beside it pop and give it a polished and professional look.

One way I incorporated ‘Red Brick’
Patch Testing.png
Another old makeup look from earlier this year featuring ‘Red Brick’

There’s More!

You can even put a little of this on your cheeks, another old trick similarly is applying some of your chosen blush to the area around your eyes to tie the look together. It really works!

Orange works with nearly every colour. Try it and see for yourself! MAC shadows again, an OG favourite of mine and the first mid-end cosmetics I purchased as a younger woman.

Let me know if you knew about this eye shadow trick below πŸ™‚

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush – Review

Tarte is by far a huge favourite of mine in the eyeshadow department. So will their Amazonian Clay Blush perform as well as their shadows?

I was super happy to see this little gem hidden away in my giveaway winners box. I have never tried anything else from their range so this was a nice surprise.

Talc, Zinc Stearate, Tricaprylin, Polyethylene, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cera Alba, PEG-150 Distearate, Lanolin, Laureth-4, Tocopherol, Polysorbate 20, Tetrasodium EDTA, Potassium Sorbate, Chlorphenesin, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Kaolin, Tin Oxide, Mica, Carmine (CI 75470). Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in ‘Paaarty’, a nude blushing pink, one ofΒ  17 spectacular shades available

Tarte Says (available at Sephora)

This nutrient-rich blush benefits all skin types for a fade-free flawless finish that lasts an amazing 12 hours.

For oily skin types, Amazonian clay minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place. Those with dry skin will benefit from the clay’s nourishing and hydrating properties, which naturally restore skin’s moisture. Combination skin types can rely on its ability to zero in on skin concerns and deliver benefits to restore complexion harmony. The result: Blush that wears better, longer and truer.

I used a tulip brush to apply and apply I did. A little too much! Some pressed powder over the top to took it down a notch and I avoided looking like an overheated mess. It’s very pigmented, I like it.

6 hours of wear
Paaarty brings just enough flush to the face

Lasting Power

As Tarte claims above it, “wears better, longer and truer” for combination skin.

  • I decided to wear this on a very hot, 30Β°C/86Β°F day and the above pictures were taken after 6 hours of wear
  • I can still see the colour coming through in the photos
  • I was happy that none of my sweat and oils had broken down the powder

I really enjoyed this blush and seeing as I only have another two, I will be using this more often. This Amazonian Clay Powder Blush is smooth, easy to apply and shows up well on my skin tone.
