Cool Vibes – 4 Simple Makeup Looks for the cooler weather, or not

All of these looks were created with the following staple products and tools. All the brands will have external links to prices and where to purchase for your convenience below (just highlight the word and go):

Small note, all of the xoBeauty products I received in a giveaway package I won from Glam Raider recently (yay!) but the rest was purchased by myself.

  • Nars,ย All Day Luminous Weightless foundation, Light 2 Mont Blanc
  • Tarte, Shape Tape concealer, 20B Light
  • Rimmel, loose powder, Transparent
  • MAC,ย Pro Longwear Paint Pot, Soft Ochre Paint Pot eye base
  • Physician’s Formula, Butter Bronzer, Light
  • Maybelline, Hypersharp Wing liquid liner, black
  • Too Faced, Chocolate Bar Palette Fudge and Milk Chocolate shadows, brows
  • Ardell, Duo lash glue, white/clear
  • xoBeauty, lip balm, Fejioa
  • Urban Decay, Troublemaker mascara, black
  • MAC, Prep + Prime, Fix +, to wet eye shadows
  • Urban Decay, All Nighter setting spray

Note *I’ve forgotten some of the highlighters I used (oops) but I will mention them where I remember. Most blushes are either by Milani or Tarte.

Look 1 – “The Toasty Halo”

  • Tarte Tartelette Toasted Palette, s’more, cashmere, warmth, cozy, fireside
  • Laura Mercier, Lip Glace, Black Cherry
  • Hourglass, Ambient Lighting Bronzer, Luminous Bronze Light
  • Nikkia Joy Cosmetics, unknown lashes from ‘The Petite Set’ 3rd set from the top

I love a warm eye. Would you believe I had to hide the Tarte Toasted palette so I didn’t grab for it so often? I admit, I’m quite neglectful of some of my other palettes. This was a first I’d used it in a long while, much to my other eye shadow palettes delight.

I created the ‘halo effect’ with a bit of Tarte Shape Tape on the centre of my lid and applied. It took a bit to pack on but I like the effect.

I kind of wished I bronzed a bit more around my temples and forehead. Sometimes, makeup can look so different until you photograph it.

Look 2 – “The Berry Nice”

  • MAC, Wedge and Cork shadows
  • Tarte, Tartelette Toasted Palette, candle, fireside
  • Essence, Kajal Eye Pencil, white
  • xoBeauty The Gold Digger lashes, from ‘The Dramatics’ set
  • xoBeauty Lucent, highlight
  • xoBeauty, Wabi Sabi matte lipstick

I won this lipstick (among so many other fabulous goodies) in a giveaway I mentioned earlier.

The universe brought to me such a fun berry shade, something so perfect for what I wanted these upcoming months.

Sadly, I don’t own a lip liner to match this, I used Kylie Cosmetics lip kit liner in Wicked but it was a little too purple but I kind of liked the effect. I would suggest using a balm underneath and then lining your lips as this is a bit patchy. Still beautiful though!

Can I quickly mention, The Gold Digger lashes by xoBeauty are one of my favs!! I love the lashes the taper from short in the inner corner to longer on the outer corner. Strip lashes can tend to look very heavy on my eyes if I’m not careful with my choice in lashes.

Look 3 – “The Stormy”

It’s me and my garden leaf, again!

The last two looks being this one above and below have very minimal eye makeup but it’s all about playing up the lips.

This shade by Flower Beauty looks a lot more darker in person than the picture shows. Very opaque and even colour.

I love how lipsticks can turn around a look in an instant and automatically amp up your look.

Look 4 – “The Moody”

The first of my greige toned lipsticks. Some may say muddy, some gothic, I personally love how it makes my eyes look more blue. Again, more so in person than showing up in this picture (they look a little green?)

Did you know grey is made up of the primary colours yellow, red and blue? I suppose that’s why I find it brings out the blueness but I digress, this isn’t a basic colour theory blog post.

Guys this was pretty long but I hope you stayed with me until the end and enjoyed seeing some of my makeup creations ๐Ÿ˜€

I will be posting another important blog post later today (2 blogs in one day??) be sure to read it when you get the chance.

Love your health.

Skincare and Polished Makeup Routine

Here’s a current look at my skincare routine, forever changing or being tweaked, only for the best reasons of course hehe. For days I want to look put together and fresh, I decided to show you my simplistic makeup routine as a small bonus.

AM Skincare Routine

  1. Splash with lukewarm water
  2. Simple Skincareย Micellar Water, only if I feel super greasy, then rinse face
  3. CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion PM, 1 pump to damp face
  4. Sunscreen*

*I’m looking to purchase a new sunscreen (Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Milk) that won’t irritate my facial dermatitis and rosacea but it’s currently out of stock online ๐Ÿ™‚

Makeup – Polished Face Routine

Neutral eye, pops of pink highlighter and a bold lip make for a fresh, put together look. Highlighter by Makeup Revolution London in ‘Bloom’
Another angle featuring xoBeauty Luxe Liquid Lipstick, ‘Ineffable’ (one lash seems to want to pop off) they’re also by xoBeauty ‘The Glamourista’ย

Now after the day is through, what’s next? Well my evening skincare routine of course!

PM Skincare Routine

  1. Simple Skincare, Micellar Water (almost out and soon to be replacing with (Biodermaย Sensibio H2O Sensitive, pink cap). I then continue the rest in the shower
  2. Simple Skincare Water Boost, Micellar Gel Cleanser, 30 seconds of finger tip massaging, then rinse face
  3. CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion PM to damp face, straight out of the shower
  4. CeraVe in the tub Moisturising Lotion on body
  5. Spot treat blemishes with Tea Tree Oil

I can’t help but thinking of that recent meme that I can’t find or was it a tweet about influencers talking about their skincare routines. In no way do I think I am an influencer but it gave me a giggle. I hope you enjoyed this blog post.

MAC Series – Fav #6, Prep + Prime Fix + – Banish the Cake Face

Welcome back! Today I wrap up my MAC Series Favs with the finale product *drum roll* their Prep + Prime Fix + Spray.

Gives an instant boost of hydration while delivering a soft sheen to refresh and finish makeup. This holy grail of hydrating mists can be used with other products in near-endless ways โ€“ to improve the wear of makeup, or moisturize and soothe tired skin. A delicious twist in a permanent romantic rose scent, calming lavender scent, or creamy coconut scent

Available in shades/scents Original, Coconut, Lavender and Rose, AUD $25.00 30mL/$36.00 100mL.

My Thoughts

Although it’s uses span from prepping the face to setting makeup, I actually only use this to get rid of the excess powder on my face i.e “Cake Face” and to wet my eye shadows if they need some help.

With a very light spray of my face, this hydrating formula is helpful when I have dry skin days and my makeup clings to some areas of my face.

I then go in with a setting spray.

I actually don’t like Fix + as a setting spray because when I have worn it as one (with a lot of sprays!) I became very oily. It just doesn’t work for my skin.

This is a little too much spray for myself

A light spritz gives my face a nice refresh!

Available online and in store at MAC, selected Mecca Maxima stores and selected MYER and David Jones counters.

So let me know if you have this cult classic in your collection down below. I’d love to know how it works for you ๐Ÿ™‚

Review – Marc Jacobs Beauty – Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss

Fancy yourself a shiny, glossy lip that feels as luxurious as it looks? Keep those lips puckered as I review this stunning product.

About two weeks ago, I brought to you my review on Fenty Beauty’s Fenty Glow Lipgloss. Since I’m on a roll, today’s review is on a high end lip product by Marc Jacobs Beauty.

For the most part, I try to use drug store and mid range beauty products and cosmetics. A lot of what I show you is my collection built up over the years.

Last year, as a gift to myself and with my tax money in tow, I purchased this beauty to help my thin and small lips.

Some product has settled in the bottle. It’s probably quarter full

Polybutene, Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14) Olefin), Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Glyceryl Tribehenate/Isostearate/Eicosandioate, Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dicalcium Phosphate, Stearalkonium Bentonite, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Propylene Carbonate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Limonene. May Contain (+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77499, CI 77492), Blue 1 Lake (9CI 42090), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Red 6 (CI 15850), Red 28 Lake (CI 45410), Manganese Violet (CI 77742).

Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss in ‘Sugar Sugar’

Sephora Says,

A high-shine lip gloss in covetable shades with lasting brilliance.

Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer lipgloss delivers maximum colour and brilliance with its unique Triple Shine Complex, a blend of high-performance ingredients that provide unstoppable wear and shine like ’30 coats of lacquer.’ The brilliant shine contributes to an optical plumping look. Enamored feels cushiony on the lips, never sticky. This mint-scented lip gloss collection features a profusion of creamy pinks, shimmering lavenders and iridescent brights that give lips a lush look with lasting colour and unbelievable shine.

And for AUD$42.00 for 5ml/ 0.16fl.oz worth of product, you’d better hope it does what they tell you.

Well, I really love it.

Wand Applicator

This is a unique wand tip. It’s quite long in length but honestly, I prefer something a little smaller. I have thin lips so maybe that’s the issue. Nonetheless, it get’s the product on there quickly in one swipe.

The rectangle shape feels comfortable in my hand

There’s a mild, minty scent. Nothing too crazy. It tastes a little minty too.

This is creamy and delicious on the lips. It feels like a thick coat of gloss and it melts into your lips. I feel like you don’t need a whole heap either.

A nude shade with golden sparkle dust

The Stick Factor

There’s definitely not any on my scale.

Shade Range

It’s extensive, ranging from their Shimmer Shimmer finish and High Shine finish they have every colour to keep you covered. Wear it alone or over another lip product, you can’t go wrong.

Would I Re-Purchase?

Yes definitely. I’m very interested in their other shades.

So maybe this could be a well earned treat for yourself or a gift for a family member or friend this Christmas? I hope you enjoyed today’s post, are you liking the site update? ๐Ÿ™‚

Love your health.

Review – Fenty Beauty – Gloss Bomb, Fenty Glow

Beauty for All. Rihanna truly encompasses the need for makeup that is fully inclusive and that can be worn by anyone.

Launching her own line of cosmetics in September of ’17, Rihanna was focused on not only just creating a brand for herself. Fenty Beauty was to insure that any gender and any skin tone was included in enjoying the fun of cosmetics.

Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer, 9ml $30.00AUD

Prime Photo Editor20181115_114112

ย Polybutene, Octyldodecanol, Bis-diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Tricaprylin, Cera Microcristallina/microcrystalline Wax/cire Microcristalline, Polyethylene, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Vp/eicosene Copolymer, Vp/hexadecene Copolymer, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Mica, Sorbitan Oleate, Silica, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Caprylyl Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter Unsaponifiables, Aroma/flavor, Parfum/fragrance, Tribehenin, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Lactic Acid, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Polyethylene Terephthalate, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Acrylates Copolymer, Tin Oxide, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77499), Benzyl Benzoate, Limonene

I was a bit unsure of a lip gloss that was ‘Universal’. How could one lip gloss suit everyone? Surely it would clash with some skin tones?

Well whatever witch craft our Rihanna and her team managed to conjure up was truly magical indeed.

This high shine Universal Lip Luminizer is just enough colour to enhance anyone’s skin tone

The Scent

With my sudden urge for all things glossy, I snatched this one up pretty quick upon it’s release here in Australia. It has a fruity, lolly like scent. It can get a little much sometimes but, I still love it.

Sticky Factor

There’s none! It doesn’t feel uncomfortable on the lips at all. In fact it just melts in. Also the shine. It’s dazzling. Reminds me of those old Chi Chi glosses I used to wear back in the day.

Wand Applicator

Prime Photo Editor20181115_114139
I’ve used a lot of this product! Note the visible line just at the, ‘B’ of Beauty

I quite like the pentagon handle as it feels comfortable to grip and being small, makes for an easier application.

The wand is a doe foot applicator but jumbo size. Nice because it gets the product on easily and quickly in one swoosh.

You can use this alone or top over your fav lippie. I love wearing it alone, it’s a “your lips but better” gloss that has you scrounging around in your bag for more.

Diamond Milk

Ahh the second shade in the Gloss Bomb line and can you blame her? I think I need this one next. With the popularity of Fenty Glow, it was apparent another more subtle shade might be needed to get hose lips to shine bright like a diamond. Or so Rihanna tells us.

Have you tried any glosses by Fenty Beauty? I’d love to hear your thoughts ๐Ÿ™‚

Fenty Beauty is available at Sephora stores.

Misconceptions About Makeup

The very word, ‘Misconceptions’ as Google defines is a view or opinion based on a faulty understanding of an idea.

When I first started wearing makeup it was because my mum wore it. I watched her do her makeup everyday and the ritual seemed intriguing and adult like to a young child but fun nonetheless. A spark within me ignited. It was fun. Even then at a young age, I knew in myself that makeup was for enhancing beauty. When I was 11 I had perfect skin. I didn’t need to cover it, but it was fun. So why do a small minority of people still think makeup is ‘bad’?

Common Misconceptions About Makeup

“If you’re wearing makeup then you have something to hide”

Homer GIF.gif

Well yeah that big PMS pimple that reared it’s ugly head on my chin is definitely worth smearing my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer all over, I agree. But not everyone who chooses to wear it wants to cover or hide something. It’s fun, a process, artistic even. Some may find it therapeutic and a form of escapism *ahem*

“You don’t need it, beauty lies within”

Yes I’m all for positive, self esteem boosting words of encouragement. However it doesn’t mean because I choose to even my skin tone out with foundation that “I don’t need it”. Maybe it gives me a little confidence boost? Just like that cup of strong espresso coffee you drink every morning. A glass of water is more energy boosting than caffeine, so do you really need that coffee?

“You only wear makeup to look better than others”

Please GIF.gif

Oh then I suppose we should all stop buying designer clothes or any named branded clothes and accessories then too? We all choose to dress and wear things to make us feel confident in someway or another but why does makeup get the bad rap? I guess because it’s on our face right?

“Makeup sexualises young children”

I don’t agree with pounds of makeup being put on young children as it’s completely unecessary. But can’t it be like face painting but more intricate? Makeup is just like face painting that ALL children experience growing up. Society then chooses to slam makeup (adult face painting in my opinion) as sexual and bad for embracing and enhancing your beauty. Way to confuse the little ones.

Because you wear makeup it’s because you want to sexually attract people

Eye Roll.gif

Again, I disagree. It’s more a, I like to experiment and play with creating different effects on my face with colours much like an artist takes to his/her blank canvas.

New Purchases! Maybelline Super Stay Foundation & Master Chrome Highlighter

So your girl has done it again. However I must say the timing has been absolutely perfect, thank you Law Of Attraction!

There was another sale on at my local drugstore/pharmacy Priceline and 40% off Mayebelline cosmetics. This is about the only time I purchase drugstore cosmetics, when they come close to the same price our USA friends buy them for $14.97AUD thank you very much. I refuse to pay full price which is about $24.95AUD regularly, Australia’s makeup/cosmetics mark ups is crazy!!

I wanted to get my hands on Maybelline’s Super Stay 24H Full Coverage Foundation as it has been classified as a major dupe of the Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation. Woot woot!

Dupe Alert!

Also! Another splurge, Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in 100 Molten Gold.

Ooh shiny!

Reasons Why I Didn’t Need Another Highlighter

  1. My Mac Soft and Gentle highlighter still looks the same as I bought it a year or 2 ago. Okay maybe a small dent is apparent.
  2. I’ll probably never hit pan on highlighters, who does when you use so little product?

Reason Why I Bought It Anyway

  1. It’s pretty and shiny. Well that’s 2 reasons hehe.

Another pic just because. Pretty *drools*

Anyhoo, Nikkia Joy of the wonderful YouTube beauty guru community has been raving about this highlighter and she says its pretty much the exact same product as the ABH Amrezy Highlighter. Yes, I’m sold.

I just love buying cheaper cosmetics that are dupes for the expensive counterparts.

I have yet to try these beauties but stay tuned for a video demo and review.

Have any of you tried these 2 products yet?

As always remember to love your health.
