2019 Skincare Routine – New Product Reviews

Today I wanted to bring to you my new and improved skincare routine!

If you didn’t already know, I visited a Dermatologist not too long ago. Post is here if you’re interested. Together, we were able to formulate a better routine for my skin needs.

I’m happy to say that after close inspection of some of my skincare products, she did mention I could continue with most as they were good.

If you’re new here, welcome! Perhaps you’d like to understand how to better improve your skincare routine or add to it for improvement in some of your skin issues or maybe you’d like to even start a routine. I hope you find this useful. A good tip, always keep it simple πŸ™‚

I have oily/combination skin with mild seborrheic dermatitis, eczema and rosacea.

In with the new…

BiorΓ© Baking Soda Cleansing Micellar Water 300ml, $9.99

20190228223356_IMG_4942This fab product was a goodie I received in a giveaway win last year. Use to remove makeup, deep clean pores & refresh the skin. This is oil-free and non-comedogenic. This does contain a pleasant fragrance but, it can get a little much. Again not a huge fan in skincare with fragrance. It also claims “no need to rinse” but this is a marketing push. I encourage you to rinse your face no matter, especially as it contains fragrance.

Overall this agreed nicely with my skin with the addition of the ingredient Caprylic/Capric Glycerides which help smooth bumps (something I’m very familiar with!)

QV intensive Moisturising Cream 100g, $7.49

Prime Photo Editor20190228_114515A very rich moisturising cream by EGO Pharmaceuticals. This is fragrance and colour free and non-comedogenic. It can be used for various skin diseases such as dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis on the face and body.

This claims 24 hour moisturisation and a fast absorbing formula. I think it’s very intense and keeps your skin plump. I would encourage use day and night. This doesn’t work the best under makeup and is more suited as a nightly moisturiser.

DAISO Makeup Pads 160pc, $2.80

20190228223426_IMG_4943Purchased from the best little shop DAISO, these are so soft and effective at removing sunscreen and makeup. I use in conjunction with micellar water. So worth the money.

An Oldie

Simple Skincare 148ml, $9.99

20190223043421_IMG_4771This isn’t new but I thought I would throw this in here. I’ve used this on and off for approximately 6 months and it still works great for my skin and I will repurchase this once I run out.

You can purchase these products at Priceline and Priceline Pharmacies and Chemist Warehouse in Australia and DAISO stores.

How’s your current skincare routine working for you? Is there room for improvement or is your skin happy with your current routine?

Eczema Relief

Firstly, please see your doctor as I am not a Doctor,Β Dermatologist, Beauty Therapist, or Esthetician. Furthermore discuss any new products you’re interested in introducing into your skin care routine with your doctor or doctors before commencing.

Now I suffer with somewhat mild Eczema and it is no where near as bad as it could be. Nonetheless it does upset me and create a lot of symptoms I’d rather not experience. It can be at times embarrassing and awkward and for those who experience more outwardly obvious symptoms it can really take a toll on your mental health and you can feel very self conscious. It’s important to talk about these conditions because it should not be a taboo subject.Β Today, my 3 product recommendations for soothing Eczema.

Please note though some products may not be available in your country.

  1. MooGoo Eczema & Psoriasis Cream 120g/4.2 fl oz.

I want to talk a little more on the brand MooGoo. It is an Australian owned company that make skin care products with all natural ingredients and is eco-friendly. They sell not only skin care products but also range from baby products, cleansers, serums and oils and moisturisers. Be sure to check out their range and stockists here:

https://moogoo.com.au/

I became aware of this brand a little over a year ago now when 2 of my family members were going through cancer treatment. MooGoo products are put together in care packages here in Australian hospitals for cancer patients. When patients are receiving radiation therapy or chemotherapy their skin dries out immensely as a side effect of that treatment. They are therefore encouraged to apply some of their products to effectively soothe and rehydrate the skin. I believe the product they supply is called Natural Skin Milk Udder Cream.

In the middle of Winter my skin was crying out for moisture as I had very much neglected my skin. I found their creams for Eczema and Psoriasis at a Pharmacy. I have used this on my face and body and it really does help to replenish the skin.Β Benefits are anti inflammatory, anti fungal and wound healing properties as it helps relieve symptoms of Eczema,Β  Seborrheic Dermatitis and Psoriasis.

The scent is not too bad either and their play on words is so cute (I love cows and cow anything) you’ll find they do this a lot across their product lists.

Eczema Products FL
Some bonus products I use, Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for face, Lucas’ PawPaw Ointment for conditioning those lips

2.Vaseline Intensive Care Deep Restore 225ml & Petroleum Jelly

For overall moisturizing my entire body (minus my face) and I apply the petroleum jelly over the top of any dry patches that need an extra boost of locking in moisture power. I have a video on moisturizers and emollients that gets more in depth with what they are and how to use them in your routine. I find that together these ingredients help to quickly soothe and alleviate any dry, cracked skin. As this is a deep restore moisturizer, I find it makes my skin softer in just one use. The trick is to keep using it consistently! Non greasy formulation is fast absorbing which is a plus or maybe my hands are so dry they just suck it all up instantly!

3. Advantan 1% & Novasone 0.1% – Steroid Cream

Both this cream and lotion require a prescription but do know they offer extraordinary relief to itching, redness, dryness, oozing and flakiness. I won’t go too much into this because lets face it, I wouldn’t know what I’m talking about. All I can say is that these work for me and your Doctor will consider all factors for prescribing you medicine based on your health, any allergies and any other form of medication you are taking to reduce likelihood of harmful drug interactions.

That’s it! I hope you found this list of products I use helpful and may even give you the confidence to go out there and seek help. Some skin conditions can be embarrassing but I’m here to tell you they shouldn’t be. Remember to love your health!

3 New Skincare Product Reviews

I’m a skincare, makeup and beauty junkie and I’m forever scouring the shelves to find new products to test and review.

Today I share 3 new skincare products I have been loving lately and what they can do for you too.

Please remember to patch test all new products before applying directly to your face. I have a video especially on that right here if you’re wondering what I mean πŸ™‚

The first 2 product recommendations are by the skincare company calledΒ The Ordinary. So if you’re not familiar with the brand The Ordinary is a branch company falling under the umbrella of DECIEM better known as, “The Abnormal Beauty Company”. They’re free of parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, animal oils, formaldehyde, mercury, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, benzalkonium chloride, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, oxybenzone. It’s also not tested on animals which is a plus in my book.

Flat Lay 4

Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% – This is a chemical peel formulation of lactic acid and Hyaloronic Acid. Lactic Acid being the most mildest form of AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) making it the most popular you can find. It also makes it perfect for anyone new to experimenting with acids on their face. Hyaloronic Acid actually moisturizes your skin so it’s nice to have the both combined for this product because we all need hydration.

It comes in a frosted, eye dropper bottle with 30ml or 1 fl oz and you can place a couple of drops on your face and rub in with clean fingers. Packaging directs you to use everyday as a PM product but my skin can’t handle that, so I use it 1-2 times a week being careful not to over exfoliate because remember it is an AHA. I actually use a Q-Tip/cotton ear bud to dab it on my closed comedones. What I love about it is that it effectively reduces the appearance of my texture and smooths my skins appearance.

Flat Lay 3

The second product recommendation is Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% – Visibly targets aging skin and uneven skin tone. What I love about this product is that is slowly but surely helping reduce the hyper pigmentation ‘acne scars’ of pinkish, purple and red dots under my skin. It comes in a grey and white squeeze tube and the formula has a very gritty texture and you will feel a tingling sensation. Remember if it continues for longer than 10 minutes then remove it immediately.

Importantly, please be sure to follow a thorough sun protection regimen and reduce sun exposure whilst using these products.

You can purchase The Ordinary skin care products if you’re in Australia from Priceline, Priceline Pharmacies and MYER, UK- ASOS and Beauty Bay, USA and Canada – Sephora. Also check the website for more locations closer to wherever you may live in the world.

Third and final product review is a mask that I picked up on sale 2 weeks ago by my favorite skincare brand Neutrogena.

Flat Lay 5

Hydro Boost 100% Hydrogel MaskΒ -(It’s a sheet mask so be prepared to look like Hannibal Lecter) – Quenches the skin to deeply hydrate and leaves skin supple. I have been on the hunt for a good mask that wouldn’t break me out. I tried clay mud masks before and ended up with a whole heap of closed comedones and threw it out pretty quickly.

Recommendation is to leave on your face for 20-30 minutes for an intense treatment.Β Why I love this is because it felt so cool, so soothing and nice on my face and certainly left it feeling soft and plump up until the next morning. The only trouble I found was that it practically slid right out of the packet and I nearly dropped it on the floor so be careful with that!

The skin on our face sure needs a pampering once in a while, why not try out these 3 products if you’re suffering with skin texture, aging, uneven skin tone or hyper pigmentation? Have you got any holy grail skin care products you’d like to share? Let me know in the comments below and remember to love your health!
